What should we know about a video camera?

The video, therefore, consists of storing a series of images taken in sequence which, when played back one after another, create the illusion of movement. A single second of video contains, at a minimum, 21 frames. This is one of the fundamental differences with celluloid, which contains 24 frames per second, and with television, which can reach up to 60 FPS. The sharpness of the video and the smoothness of the image depend on the number of frames per second.

Objective

This set of lenses is responsible for directing light rays towards the sensor, thereby creating the image you wish to capture.

Diaphragm

Inside the camera, it captures the light rays that come through the lens.

Visor

Screen

The viewfinder allows us to preview the environment, while the screen, located on the back of the camera, helps us to view the image before taking the shot and to review the photo after it has been taken. Furthermore, the screen allows camera information to be displayed, as well as access to the menu and its settings.

Control buttons and dials

Modern video cameras are usually equipped with various buttons and dials, the functionalities of which vary depending on the manufacturer. However, there are certain controls that are common on most cameras, such as the power on and/or off button, the shutter button, the one that helps us view images already taken, and the one used to access the camera's menu.

On the dials, we can find two:

   2. Another one that adjusts values (aperture, ISO sensitivity, shutter speed…).
